Pushkar Travel Attractions

Pushkar is a town situated in the state of Rajasthan in India. Pushkar literally means “Like the Blue Lotus” and lies on the shores of Pushkar Lake. Pushkar is a sacred city in Rajasthan but its natural surroundings and the holy lake are being ruined year after year. It is located about14 Km North West from Ajmer and is among the five sacred dhams (pilgrimage spots for Hindus). Meat, alcohol and drugs are prohibited in Pushkar.

Puskhar is rich in religious activities so it is known as the holy city. It is famous for its Brahma temple, lake, Ghats, and bazaar. It has five principal temples, many smaller temples and 52 Ghats where pilgrims descend to the lake to bathe in the sacred water. One of the main temples is the 14th century temple devoted to Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Pushkar is a tourist destination especially for religious purpose. There are wonderful stays but little bit expensive. It includes not only religious places but also the beautiful places to see such as Pushkar Lake, Man Mahal, Savitri temple, Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Varaha temple, Jagat Pita Shri Brahma temple, Pushkar fair, Nagaur fair, and Tetaji fair etc. Mainly people visit for the sake of religious purpose. It is the king of pilgrim sites. Pushkar is very cool and peace in atmosphere where you can understand about the religious rituals and can get information about religious sites. It is helpful to introduce the cultural and religious importance to foreigners.

The adjacent airport is the Sanganer Airport at Jaipur which is around 146 km from Pushkar. Pushkar is well linked by road. The nearest railway station is Ajmer and it is also connected to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Bangalore. In most of the sights you have to walk with foot and by rickshaw also you can visit around the town.
